WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - For the second consecutive season, Clemson's Josipa Bek claimed the singles title and North Carolina's Sanaz Marand and Sophie Grabinski took the doubles crown at the ITA Carolina Regionals.
The three competitors will advance to the ITA/Wilson National Indoors Championship, held at Yale University November 5-8.
In doubles, UNC's Grabinksi and Marand jumped out to an early 6-3 lead over Clemson's Bek/Ina Hadziselimovic's team. Clemson rallied back and narrowed the gap to 7-6 before the Tar Heels shut the door with an 8-6 win.
Bek jumped out to a commanding 5-2 lead in the first set of singles, but Duke's Reka Zsilinska looked to split sets when she tied the match at 4-4 in the second set. Zsilinska was never able to push ahead of Bek, and Bek took the title with a 7-6 second set victory.
