No. 4 Deacons Travel to No. 3 UVA

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - On Sunday, October 11, the fourth-ranked Wake Forest field hockey team will face third-ranked Virginia in Charlottesville at 2 p.m. This match will not count towards the Atlantic Coast Conference standings. The second contest between the teams, scheduled for October 24 in Winston-Salem, will be the official league matchup.

Wake Forest is 8-3 this season, taking a loss to North Carolina last Saturday and posting a 6-0 victory over Appalachian State on Sunday. Freshman Lizzie Rae leads the Deacons in scoring with six goals for the year.

The Cavaliers (11-1) suffered their first loss of the season last week, falling to top-ranked Maryland 3-1. Paige Selenski leads Virginia with 13 goals and goalkeeper Kim Kastuk has logged six shutouts for the Cavaliers this season.

Next weekend Wake Forest will continue play on the road, traveling to the University of Louisville to face Providence and host school Louisville on October 17 and 18.
