Wake Forest Takes Down Valpo, 52-34

SAN DIEGO, Ca. - Wake Forest finished the 2009 Surf N Slam Tournament with a 52-34 win over Valparaiso in San Diego on Wednesday evening.
Brittany Waters led both teams with 19 points. Sandra Garcia led on the boards with 10 caroms in addition to her 10 points, marking her fourth double-double of the season. Betsy Adams led the Crusaders with eight points and Gina Lange had the team-high four rebounds.
Wake Forest improves to 9-4 with the win and Valpo falls to 3-6.
Freshman Lakevia Boykin got her first career start in the game, where she finished with four points and three assists.
The game provided to be a defensive grind, with Valpo scoring only 14 points in the second half and Wake Forest netting only 19.
Wake Forest will return to Winston-Salem to host Richmond on January 4 at 7 p.m.
