CHICAGO - Seniors Caitlin Farrell and Kaley Fountain and junior Bianca D'Agostino have been invited to the U.S. U-23 Women's National Team camp, which is scheduled for December 13-20 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.
A total of 24 players were called into the camp by U-23 head coach Bill Irwin. Of the 24 players, 11 are from Women's Professional Soccer teams, while 13 are from the college ranks.
The first three days of the U-23 camp will overlap with the end of the training camp for the full U.S. national team. The U.S. U-23 players will get the opportunity to compete with and against members of the full U.S. Women's National Team.
D'Agostino, Farrell and Fountain all have previous experience with U.S. youth national teams. D'Agostino and Farrell traveled to England with the U-23's last summer, while Fountain was a member of the victorious U-20 national team at the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
A junior from Longmeadow, Mass., D'Agostino played and started all 24 games for Wake Forest in 2009. The midfielder finished her junior season with 10 points, scoring two goals and adding six assists. For her career, she has played in 66 games, including 47 starts, with five goals and nine assists.
Farrell anchored the Wake Forest defense in 2009, helping the Demon Deacons to a school-record 15 shutouts on the season. Offensively, Farrell added a goal and an assist during her senior season. The Fort Myers, Fla., native played in 90 games during her collegiate career, including 82 starts. She ranks second in school history in games played and tied for fourth in games started.
After playing as a defender for the last two seasons, Fountain moved to the forward position during her senior season and proved to be one of the top attacking players in the ACC. Fountain finished her senior season tied for the team lead with 32 points, scoring 11 goals and contributing a team-high 10 assists. She was one of just 13 players in the country to record double-digit totals in assists and points. In 86 career games played, Fountain scored 16 goals and added 23 assists.
