Team Records and Series Notes:
- Wake Forest improves to 20-4 and 7-4 in Atlantic Coast Conference play, while Georgia Tech drops to 10-15 and 1-11 in league games.
- With the win, Wake Forest earned its 20th 20-win season in school history and first 20-win year since the 2004-05 season when the Deacs finished the year 27-6.
- Tonight's victory marked the 1,400th win in program history. Wake Forest has an all-time record of 1,400-1,057 in 103 seasons of basketball.
- The Deacs now lead the overall series with the Yellow Jackets 35-32. Wake Forest holds a 22-9 edge at the Joel Coliseum, including winning four of the last five meetings.
- Wake Forest is now 12-1 at home this season. The Demon Deacons have won 31 of their last 34 games at the Joel Coliseum, dating back to February 6, 2007.
- The Demon Deacons are back in action on Sunday, February 22, as they travel to No. 9 Duke. The two teams met a month ago with Wake Forest claiming a 70-68 win over the then-No. 1 ranked Blue Devils. Tip off at Cameron Indoor Stadium is slated for 7:30 p.m. (ET) and the game will be carried live on Fox Sports (television) and the Wake Forest ISP Radio Network.
Wake Forest Team Notes:
- Key Run: With Wake Forest leading 63-58, the Demon Deacons went on a 14-2 run over the next 2:30 to extend the lead to 77-60.
- Key Stat: The Demon Deacons enjoyed one of their better shooting nights, finishing the game making 57.4 percent (31-of-54) of their shots. Wake has shot over 50 percent in 13 games this season. The Deacs made 7-of-16 (43.8 percent) shots from beyond the arc, shooting at least 40 percent from the three-point line for only the third time this season.
- Wake Forest controlled the paint, out-scoring Georgia Tech 46-24 in the painted area. The Demon Deacons have outscored their opponent in the paint in all but one game this season.
- The Demon Deacons won the battle of the boards 36-33. Wake is 14-1 this season when outrebounding its opponent.
- Wake Forest scored 50 points in the first half, the fifth time this season that the Deacs have scored at least 50 points in a half.
- Wake Forest has now made a three-point basket in 544 consecutive games.
Wake Forest Individual Notes:
- Sophomore forward James Johnson scored a team-high 24 points and brought down a game-high 11 rebounds, notching his seventh double-double of the season and 15th of his career. Johnson was accurate from the field, making 10-of-12 shots.
- Junior guard Ish Smith tied a season high with 11 points and dished out a game-high eight assists. With his eight assist performance, Smith became the seventh member of the Wake Forest 400 assist club and the first player to join the group since Randolph Childress (1991-95). Smith now has 404 assists in his career.
- Gary Clark scored a season-high nine points, all in the first half. Clark came off the bench to tie a career high with three three-point field goals made.
- Sophomore guard Jeff Teague scored 15 points to extend his streak of double-figure scoring games to 28 straight. Teague also added four steals and three assists.
- Freshman forward Al-Farouq Aminu was the fourth Demon Deacon in double figures, scoring 14 points. Aminu has scored in double figures in 18 games during his rookie season. He also brought down six rebounds and had two helpers.
