Women's Tennis Falls 4-0 to 1-Seed Miami

CARY, N.C. - The ninth-seeded Wake Forest women's tennis team ended play in Cary, N.C. with a 4-0 loss to top-seed Miami. Wake Forest is now 13-12 and will have a week and a half before the NCAA Selection Show on April 28.
Wake's All-ACC competitor Sasha Kulikova sat of action today after aggravating a nagging back injury during yesterday's opening round match. In doubles, Emilee Malvehy and Aileen Davis moved up to No. 1, Katarina Reveche and Christian Tara played at No. 2 and Ryann Cutillo and Sierra Poske played at No. 3.
The Deacons fell at the top two slots but Ryann Cutillo and Sierra Poske were leading for most of their proset and were playing a 5-all match when the doubles point was clinched.
Miami competitors posted wins over Emilee Malvehy, Katarina Reveche and Ryann Cutillo in singles to get the three points needed for the match victory.
Junior Aileen Davis went up 3-0 in her set against Claudia Wasilewski. Wasilewski had come back to challenge Davis in a tiebreaker when the match was called. Sierra Poske took an early 2-1 lead in the second set after dropping a 6-0 opening set to Julia Cohen.
Wake Forest will now await the NCAA selection show, scheduled for Tuesday April 28.
