Men's Tennis to Play Opening NCAA Rounds at Kentucky

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's tennis team earned its ninth consecutive bid to the NCAA Tournament on Tuesday and will travel to host school Kentucky to face Northwestern (18-8) in the opening round on May 8.
Kentucky (17-10), an 11-seed, will open with Cleveland State (19-5) and the winners of each first round contest will face each other on Saturday, May. 9. The NCAA only assigns specific seeds to the top 16 teams. Wake Forest placed in the second highest category (a 17-32 seed), Northwestern is 33-48 and Cleveland State is 49-64.
ACC Champion Virginia (29-0) took the top seed, followed by Mississippi (24-2), Ohio State (31-1) and Georgia (22-3). Seven ACC schools earned bids to the tournament this year.
The Deacons (20-9) have climbed the ITA Poll throughout the season, moving into the 18th slot in Monday's edition. Northwestern currently ranks 42nd and Kentucky ranks 11th.
