WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The brackets for the 2009 NCAA Men's Tennis Singles and Doubles Tournaments were announced on Tuesday. As earlier released, Wake Forest will be represented in the tournaments, both of which will be held in College Station, Texas, by All-Americans Cory Parr and Steven Forman.
Parr received a top-16 seed in the singles draw and will open the tournament on Wednesday at 10 a.m. against Minnesota's Ishay Hadash. Parr was originally scheduled to open against UCLA's Haythem Abid, but Abid had to withdraw from the tournament on Tuesday.
If Parr advances past Hadash, he would face either Alex Lecroix of Florida or Omar Altmann of Pepperdine in the round of 32 on Thursday.
If Parr were to advance to the Sweet 16, top-seeded Arnau Brugues of Tulsa would be a potential opponent.
Parr will team with Forman to compete in the doubles tournament as well. The duo received a top-eight seed and will face Kentucky's Bruno Agostinelli and Brad Cox in the round of 32.
The two doubles teams have already met earlier this month when Wake's Parr and Forman defeated Kentucky's Agostinelli and Cox, 8-3, in the Demon Deacons' NCAA Tournament second round upset of the Wildcats on May 9 in Lexington.
Parr and Forman could face another potential rematch in the quarterfinals in Florida State's Jean-Yves Aubone and Vahid Mirzadeh. The Seminoles' duo, who defeated Wake Forest's top doubles team on April 3 in Winston-Salem, will face Oklahoma State's Nathan Byrnes and Oleksandr Nedovyesov in the round of 32. Parr and Forman would play the winner of FSU-OSU should they advance past Kentucky.
Parr and Forman won the doubles title at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's National Indoors Tournament last November.
