WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Andy Lubahn, a midfielder from Erie, Pa., has been added to the Wake Forest men's soccer 2009 recruiting class, as announced on Monday by head coach Jay Vidovich.
"Andy is a welcome addition to the program," Vidovich said. "We're very fortunate that a player of his background is joining us at this time. His experiences playing and training in Europe should help him adapt to playing in the ACC and at Wake Forest."
Lubahn is the eighth member of the 2009 recruiting class, joining Anthony Arena, Luciano Delbono, Gimel Gordon, Michael Lisch, Will Mayhew, Ben Newnam and Sean Randolph.
Lubahn has extensive experience training and playing with the U.S. youth national teams. He has trained with the U-14, U-15, U-18 and U-20 national teams. Lubahn was also part of the first class invited into Brad Freidel's Premier Soccer Academy in Cleveland, Ohio.
The Erie, Pa., native also has experience in Europe as he trained with Cercle Brugge of the Belgium Jupiler League. Lubahn was the leading scorer while playing with Cercle Brugge's amateur team.
Lubahn was also captain of the Columbus Crew's U-17 Team. His team was invited to play in the SUM U-17 Cup in Denver, Colo., against other U-17 MLS teams.
Lubahn also excels in the classroom as he graduated in the top 10 percent of his class and was named to the honor roll throughout high school.
