WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Coming off a tough opening weekend, the Wake Forest volleyball team will head to Kalamazoo, Mich., this weekend for the Holiday Inn West Bronco Classic hosted by Western Michigan.
The Deacs (0-3) will open the tournament against the hosts on Friday night at 7 pm. Wake will then take on Dayton (3-0) at Noon on Saturday followed by Illinois State (2-1) at 5 pm.
Wake Forest and Western Michigan (0-3) met last year on the opening night of the Black & Gold Challenge and the two teams battled in a five-set thriller. The Deacons were able to pull out the victory and will be looking for the home-and-home sweep this weekend. This will be the third meeting all-time between the two schools with Wake winning both of the previous contests.
Dayton is coming off a tournament victory at the Mortar Board Classic hosted by Purdue, where the Flyers upset the No. 19 Boilermakers in the championship match. This is the fifth all-time meeting for the Deacons and Flyers. Dayton has won each of the last three meetings and holds a 3-1 advantage.
Illinois State went 2-1 in its opening weekend tournament, The Redbird Classic, a tournament in which it hosted. The Redbirds defeated Gardner Webb and Texas-Arlington but fell to Oral Roberts in the championship match. This weekend's match will be the first meeting between the two schools.
Live scoring will be available for every match of the tournament. Check back to www.WakeForestSports.com for box scores and complete recaps of each match.
