WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's tennis team will open fall play when it hosts the 2009 WFU Fall Invitational this weekend at Leighton Stadium.
The tournament features seven teams, including Duke, who won the 2009 National Championship. Other teams set to play are Old Dominion, Richmond, Illinois, UNC Greensboro, Davidson and Wake Forest.
The tournament will be based at Leighton Stadium on Wake Forest's Reynolda Campus. In the event of rain all matches will be moved to the Indoor Tennis Center, located next to BB&T Field and Bridger Field House on Deacon Blvd.
There will be three singles draws of 16, one doubles draw of 16 and one doubles round robin bracket. Matches will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday, September 27. Draws will be updated online at the conclusion of each day's play.
Junior Emilee Malvehy and sophomore Martina Pavelec will be Wake Forest's representatives in the A-Singles draw, which features Duke's top-seeded Reka Zsilinszka, ranked 13th nationally in the ITA's preseason poll.
In the top doubles draw the Demon Deacons will feature Kathryn Talbert with Malvehy and Ryan Cutillo with Katarina Reveche.
