  • Key Run: With the game tied at 83, Ishmael Smith made a jumper in the lane with 19.8 seconds left to put the Demon Deacons in front 85-83. Maryland had a pair of three point shots on its final possession, but could not get either shot to fall.
  • Key Stat: After Maryland made six of its final eight shots from the field in regulation, the Wake Forest defense stepped up in the overtime period, holding the Terrapins to just 2-of-8 shooting during the extra period.
  • Wake Forest shot 45.7 percent (32-of-70) in the game, while Maryland made 40 percent of its shots, shooting 28-of-70.
  • The Demon Deacons had one of their best nights of the season at the free throw line, making 80 percent (16-of-20) from the charity stripe. The Terrapins also had a solid night at the foul line, making 76 percent (19-of-25) of their free throws.

Wake Forest Individual Notes

  • Junior forward Al-Farouq Aminu led Wake Forest with 24 points and 13 rebounds, recording the 20th double-double of his career and the 10th of his 2009-10 season. Aminu also blocked three shots and had two steals.
  • Freshman guard C.J. Harris notched the 10th double-digit point performance of his rookie season, scoring 18 points, just one point shy of tying his career high.
  • Senior guard Ishmael Smith was the third Demon Deacon in double figures, scoring 16 points. Smith also added a game-high eight assists, along with two steals.
  • Senior center Chas McFarland brought down 12 rebounds, tallying his fourth double-digit rebounding performance of the season. McFarland also added eight points.
