LOS ANGELES - Wake Forest women's tennis players Martina Pavelec and Kayla Duncan are set to begin play at the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships, hosted by the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

Duncan, who is ranked 79th in the nation in singles, will begin the competition as the No. 2 seed in the pre-qualifying draw, with her first match scheduled for Saturday at 11:30 PDT against UNLV's Lucia Batta. The winner of that contest will take on the winner of Ana Belzunce (Maryland) and Claire Bartlett (Florida), also on Saturday at 2:30.

Players in the pre-qualifying draw need to win three rounds to reach the qualifying draw, which is where Pavelec will start the singles tournament. Play in the qualifying draw begins on Tuesday.

Duncan and Pavelec will partner in the pre-qualifying doubles draw, with their first round opponent still to be determined.

The Riviera/ITA All-American Championships is one of three individual national championship events on the collegiate calendar. Twitter updates from the pre-qualifying tournament are available by following @PreQualies2010 or at www.twitter.com/prequalies2010
