Duncan and Pavelec Win at Riviera/ITA All-American Championships

LOS ANGELES - Kayla Duncan and Martina Pavelec kicked off play at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships with a win in the first round of the pre-qualifying doubles competition Saturday.
The Demon Deacons cruised past hometown players Megan Lester and Morgan Thomas of UCLA 8-1 in the first round of pre-qualifying doubles play. The duo will take on Kansas' Ekaterina Morozova and Erin Wilbert in the second round and will need two wins tomorrow to earn a spot in the qualifying draw.
Duncan was scheduled to start singles play today in the pre-qualifying draw, but was bumped into the qualifying draw, joining Pavelec who had already earned direct acceptance into qualifying.
Both players will start singles play on Tuesday. Pavelec will face Pepperdine's Arianna Colffer in the first round, and Duncan will take on ACC foe in Virginia's Lindsey Hardenbergh.
