
Duncan and Cutillo Advance to ITA Regional Quarterfinals

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's tennis team had a strong day at the ITA Carolina Regional Friday as Kayla Duncan and Ryann Cutillo reached the doubles quarterfinals and four Deacons advanced to the second round of main draw singles.
Duncan and Cutillo edged Mikayla Rogers and Nitooli Wilkins (UNC Greensboro) 9-7 to reach the final eight of the doubles draw. They will take on Duke's second-seeded team of Nadine Fahoum and Ellah Nze tomorrow for a berth in the semifinals.
In singles action, No. 34 Martina Pavelec cruised past Diana Mortlock of Coastal Carolina 6-0, 6-0. No. 79 Kayla Duncan survived a tight first set to defeat Appalachian State's Jennifer Ansari 7-6 (3) 6-1. Emilee Malvehy took down College of Charleston's Catherine Newman 6-2, 6-1, and Ryann Cutillo outlasted Jordan Johnston of Elon 6-7, 6-1, 6-2.
One round of doubles and two rounds of singles are scheduled for tomorrow.
