Duncan and Pavelec Win Spot in All-Americans Doubles Qualifying

LOS ANGELES - The Wake Forest doubles team of Martina Pavelec and Kayla Duncan won two matches Sunday in pre-qualifying play to earn a spot in the doubles qualifying draw of the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships.
The Deacon duo were one of four teams to win their way out of the 32-team pre-qualifying competition. Duncan and Pavelec started out the day with an 8-2 win over Ekaterina Morozova and Erin Wilbert of Kansas, before topping Florida State's Noemi Scharle and Katie Rybakova 8-5 to secure their place in the qualifying draw. The tandem will begin qualifying play on Tuesday against an opponent to be determined.
Both Demon Deacons will also start play in singles qualifying on Tuesday. Pavelec is matched up against Pepperdine's Arianna Colffer, and Duncan will open with Virginia's Lindsey Hardenbergh.
The ITA/Riviera All-American Championships is one of the three collegiate individual national championship events. Players in both singles and doubles qualifying need to win three matches to earn a spot in the main draw of the tournament, which kicks off on Thursday.
