
Football Game Notes - Wake Forest at Vanderbilt

Wake Forest closes the 2010 season on Saturday when it travels to Nashville to face the Vanderbilt Commodores. The game is set to kickoff at 7:30 p.m. and will be televised on Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast. The game is also available on the Wake Forest ISP Sports Radio Network.
The Demon Deacons (2-9, 1-7 ACC) are coming off a 30-10 loss to Clemson last Saturday in the 2010 home finale at BB&T Field. The Tigers scored the game's first 23 points before Wake Forest added a field goal and a Josh Harris rushing touchdown in the fourt quarter.
Jimmy Newman got Wake Forest on the scoreboard with a 45-yard field goal in the fourth quarter. The field goal was Newman's 10th consecutive made field goal, bringing him one made field goal away from tying the school record.
Harris accounted for the only Demon Deacon touchdown in the contest, scoring on a 1-yard run in the final quarter. The touchdown was his sixth rushing TD of the season. He finished the game with 38 yards on nine carries.
Daniel Mack picked off a pass for the second straight home game and finished with a career-high eight tackles to lead the Wake Forest defense. Hunter Haynes also tied for the team high with eight stops.
Vanderbilt (2-9, 1-7 SEC) dropped a 24-10 decision to Tennessee in its most recent game. The Commodores cut the lead to 17-10 late in the fourth quarter, but a late Volunteer touchdown put the game out of reach.
Quickie Notes
- Wake Forest has defeated Vanderbilt in three of the last four games played in Nashville, including a 31-17 win in 2007.
- Wake Forest place kicker Jimmy Newman has made 10 straight field goals and is one made field goal away from tying the school record of consecutive made field goals, currently held by Sam Swank, who made 11 straight field goals during the 2005 season.

Saturday's game marks the final game for Wake Forest in the 2010 season. The Deacs open the 2011 season at Syracuse.
