GREENSBORO, N.C. - Sophomore Andrea Beck has been named to the 2010 All-ACC Volleyball Team as announced on Tuesday by the conference office.
Beck, a local Winston-Salem native, was the lone Wake Forest volleyball player to earn the award and was one of just 18 players among the 12 ACC schools to be named to the All-ACC Team.
This marks the first time that Beck has earned the award and adds to a long list of accolades she has earned this season.
In the season-opening Deacon Invitational, Beck was named to the All-Tournament Team after helping Wake Forest post a 2-1 recording, including victories over Coastal Carolina and East Tennessee State.
A month later, the middle hitter was named ACC Player of the Week after leading the Deacons to a pair of sweeps on the road at Clemson and Georgia Tech. Against the Tigers, Beck had 15 kills and four blocks before recording 12 kills, six blocks and a .524 hitting percentage against the Yellow Jackets.
Beck has also proven herself in the classroom, as she was selected First Team ESPN Academic All-District. Since she was named First Team with a 3.97 GPA as a biology major, Beck is also eligible to be named Academic All-America later in the coming weeks.
Beck ended the year with a team-high .320 hitting percentage and was second on the team in kills with 312. She was also second for the Deacons with 100 total blocks and added 13 aces from behind the service line.
Wake Forest finished the regular season with a 19-12 overall record and its first-ever 11-win season in the ACC with an 11-9 conference record.
