WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's tennis team will compete in its final event of the fall season when it hosts the Wake Forest Invitational from Nov. 5-7 at the Indoor Tennis Center. The Deacons will welcome the teams from NC State, Tennessee, LSU and Furman for the event.
The event will take on a format similar to a dual match as players from one team will take on players from another in singles and doubles, with the individual matchups determined by strength. Admission to all matches is free.
Wake Forest will begin play with doubles against NC State on Friday at 2 p.m. before facing Furman in singles later in the afternoon. The Deacons will play two rounds of doubles on Saturday morning, starting at 8 a.m., and will close the tournament on Sunday with two rounds of singles.
The Demon Deacons have two nationally ranked singles players in No. 34 Martina Pavelec and No. 79 Kayla Duncan. In the Carolina Regional last month, Pavelec reached the singles quarterfinals while Duncan partnered with Ryann Cutillo to advance to the doubles quarterfinals.
Following the tournament, Wake Forest will break from competition for the semester before kicking off the dual match schedule with a home match against Richmond on Jan. 22.
