Sophomore Jimmy Newman
- Sophomore kicker Jimmy Newman has now made eight straight field goals. He hit a 37-yarder with 28.3 seconds left in the first quarter and a 39-yarder with 2:26 left in the second quarter. His eight straight field goals tie him for the fifth-longest streak in WFU history.
- Newman has made 60 consecutive PATs, tying Wilson Hoyle (1987-89) for second place on Wake's most consecutive PAT's made list. The record is 121 by Sam Swank.
Defensive Highs
- RS freshman Mike Olson made a career-high seven tackles.
- RS junior Josh Bush made seven tackles, also a career-high.
- FS freshman Duran Lowe made a career-best six tackles.
- RS sophomore Kevin Smith set a new career-high with five tackles. Smith also blocked a PAT.
- RS senior Matt Woodlief recorded her first-career solo sack.
RS Senior Marshall Williams
- RS senior Marshall Williams connected on a 41-yard touchdown pass to RS sophomore Chris Givens to make the score 20-13 with 9:20 in the fourth quarter. For his career, he is now 5-for-5 passing for 174 yards and two touchdowns, and his QB efficiency rating is 524.32.
RS Junior Devon Brown
- RS junior Devon Brown went over 1,000 yards receiving for his career with a 26-yard catch from freshman Tanner Price in the first quarter.
- Brown is the 30th player in Wake Forest history to gain at least 1,000 yards receiving during a career.
- Brown recorded his 100th career reception with just under five minutes to go in the second quarter. The catch was a six-yard third down conversion. He is now the 23rd player in school history with at least 100 career receptions.
- Brown had six catches for a season-high 76 yards. His long catch of 26 yards also tied a season-high.
First-Career Interceptions
- RS freshman Daniel Mack picked off the first pass of his career on BC's second drive of the game in the first quarter. The ball was tipped near the line of scrimmage by RS freshman Nikita Whitlock, allowing Mack to run under the ball and make the catch.
- RS sophomore Joey Ehrmann recorded his first-career interception in the fourth quarter and returned the ball seven yards. Ehrmann's interception set up RS senior Marshall Williams' touchdown pass to RS sophomore Chris Givens.
A Youth Movement
- Today's game marks the first game of the year in the Football Bowl Subdivision featuring two starting true freshman quarterbacks - Tanner Price for Wake Forest and Chase Rettig for Boston College.
With the loss
- Wake Forest falls to 2-7 overall and 1-5 in the ACC.
- Wake Forest has lost seven consecutive games for the first time since losing the first seven games of the 2000 season.
