WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest had a trio of women's soccer players earn NSCAA honors, as Katie Stengel was named a second-team All-American, while Bianca D'Agostino and Jackie Logue received All-Southeast Region recognition.
Along with her All-America honors, Stengel was also named to the All-Southeast first team. D'Agostino was on the All-Southeast second team, and Logue made the All-Southeast third team.
Stengel, a freshman, is the first Wake Forest player to make the NSCAA All-America first or second teams, and is the first rookie in program history to earn All-America honors of any kind. The Melbourne, Fla. native turned in one of the most prolific seasons in school history, setting new Wake Forest single-season records with 16 goals and 37 points. She currently sits atop the ACC in both scoring categories, and should she hold onto her lead through the College Cup, she would become the first freshman to lead the league in both goals and points since 1999.
Already one of the most decorated players in the history of Wake Forest women's soccer, Stengel was named TopDrawerSoccer's National Rookie of the Year and the ACC Freshman of the Year, and was recently announced as one of the 15 semifinalists for the 2010 M.A.C. Hermann Trophy, the most prestigious award in college soccer.
D'Agostino, a senior co-captain, also turned in an impressive season for the Demon Deacons, starting all 24 games in the midfield, and notching two goals and five assists for a total of nine points. The Longmeadow, Mass. native saved some of her best performances of the season for the 2010 ACC Tournament where she scored a goal against Florida State in the quarterfinals and added an assist in the title match against Maryland to help Wake Forest claim its first ACC Championship.
Logue, a defender, served as a co-captain of the Demon Deacons in her sophomore year, starting all 24 games. She established herself as a premier player on both defense and offense, helping the Deacs record three shutouts, while also getting forward to score a goal and contribute four assists.
