WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's basketball team fell 70-65 to Maryland on Thursday night in Winston-Salem.

Wake Forest is now 14-10 and 5-5 in the Atlantic Coast Conference and Maryland is 17-8, 4-6.

Demon Deacon guard Camille led all scorers with 20 points, followed by Brittany Waters who added 19, including a career-high five 3-point field goals. Secily Ray had the game-high 14 rebounds.

Diandra Tchatchouang had the Terrapin best 17 points and nine rebounds.

The shooting statistics were close throughout the game. Wake Forest shot 34 percent from the field to Maryland's 38 percent and the Deacs were 45 percent from the 3-point line to Maryland's 42 percent. Maryland had a 45-41 edge in rebounding, but the game outcome came down to the charity stripe where Maryland went 21-for-29 and the Demon Deacons only came up with 7-for-21.

A 3-point basket from Lori Bjork at the end of the first half gave the Terrapins a 29-27 lead going into the locker room.

The Demon Deacons went up 34-31 with 17:51 to play as Waters added her fifth trey of the night. The teams exchanged baskets and at 15:21 the score tied for the fifth and final time at 36-36 with a layup from Tchatchouang.

The Terrapins led by as much as seven points in the final 10 minutes but Sandra Garcia's layup just under the four minute mark put the Deacons just one point behind at 61-62.

Tchatchaouang followed with a 3-pointer and blocked Garcia's answering basket to put the Terrapins in front 61-65.

A free throw basket from Jackie Nared with 17 seconds in regulation gave Maryland a two-possession lead (69-65) and Dara Taylor set the final score with a free throw with five seconds to play.

Wake Forest is headed to Chestnut Hill this weekend to take on Boston College on Sunday at 2 p.m.
