Final: North Carolina 77, Wake Forest 68
Team Records and Series Notes:
- Wake Forest falls to 18-8 overall and 8-6 in Atlantic Coast Conference play, while North Carolina improves to 15-14 overall and 4-10 in league play.
- North Carolina leads the overall series 152-65.
- Head coach Dino Gaudio moved to 59-28 in his third year at the helm of the Deacs. Gaudio is 127-152 in his 10th season overall as a head coach.
- The crowd of 14,510 was the biggest of the season at Joel Coliseum
- Wake Forest hits the road to take on Florida State in its only meeting with the Noles on Wednesday, March 3, in Tallahassee. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2. The Deacons will close the regular season hosting Clemson on Sunday, March 7.
Wake Forest Team Notes:
- Key Run: At 41 all with 15:07 in the second half, North Carolina went on a 16-6 run to take a 57-47 lead with 7:18 remaining.
- Key Stat: Wake Forest shot a season-low 30 percent (22-of-74) from the field in the game. North Carolina made 40 percent (26-of-65) of their field goals, including a 63 percent mark (5-of-8) from behind the arc in the second half.
- Sophomore Tony Woods and freshman Ari Stewart each had eight points at the break for Wake Forest, and North Carolina's Leslie McDonald led the Tar Heels with nine.
- The Deacs held North Carolina to a 13 percent (1-for-8) three-point field goal percentage in the first half.
Wake Forest Individual Notes:
- Stewart came off the bench to lead the Deacons with 16 points, one short of his career-high. He also grabbed seven rebounds.
- Senior L.D. Williams totaled 14 points to go with nine rebounds.
- Senior Ishmael Smith had 12 points - all in the second half - and seven helpers.
- Sophomore Al-Farouq Aminu grabbed 10 boards.
