WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The 2010 Major League Soccer season got underway last weekend and several former Wake Forest men's soccer players saw significant minutes for their respective clubs. Here's a look at how former Demon Deacons fared in the season's opening weekend.
Defender Lyle Adams did not play in DC United's 4-0 loss to Kansas City.
Midfielder Corben Bone did not play in Chicago's season-opening 1-0 loss to the New York Red Bulls.
Midfielder Brian Carroll started and played the entire 90 minutes for Columbus in the Crew's 2-0 win against Toronto FC.
Midfielder Sam Cronin started and played the entire 90 minutes in Toronto FC's 2-0 loss to Columbus.
Midfielder Austin da Luz did not play in New York's 1-0 win over the Chicago Fire.
Goalkeeper Will Hesmer made three saves and recorded a shutout in Columbus' 2-0 win against Toronto FC.
Midfielder Michael Lahoud started and played 63 minutes in Chivas USA's 1-0 loss to Colorado.
Defender Ike Opara started, played the entire 90 minutes and attempted a shot in San Jose's 3-0 loss to Real Salt Lake.
Defender Pat Phelan started and played the entire 90 minutes for New England in the Revolution's 1-0 loss at the LA Galaxy.
Defender James Riley did not play in Seattle's 2-0 win against the Philadelphia Union.
Forward Zack Schilawski started and played the entire 90 minutes for New England in the Revolution's 1-0 loss at the LA Galaxy. Schilawski enjoyed a successful preseason, finishing five exhibition games with four goals and an assist, including scoring the game-winning goal against the Carolina Railhawks.
Midfielder Wells Thompson entered as a substitute in the 66th minute in Colorado's 1-0 win at Chivas USA.
