WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest senior Steven Forman jumped 33 spots to No. 23 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association national singles rankings released Tuesday, the highest singles ranking of his career.
Forman has also teamed with junior Iain Atkinson to form the 14th-ranked doubles team in the country. The Demon Deacons are ranked No. 23 in the overall team rankings and have two other ranked singles players in their lineup, No. 43 Tripper Carleton and No. 106 Atkinson.
Since the previous rankings of March 30 that had him ranked No. 56 were released, Forman has defeated ranked opponents No. 6 Michael Shabaz (Virginia), No. 27 Jean-Yves Aubone (Florida State), No. 46 Clay Donato (North Carolina) and No. 60 Yoann Re (Virginia Tech).
Forman has gone an impressive 18-4 in singles dual-match play this season while playing primarily at the No. 1 singles position, including 12-3 against nationally ranked opponents and 10-2 against Atlantic Coast Conference foes.
Other notable results for Forman this season include victories over No. 7 Robert Farah of Southern California and No. 40 Boris Conkic of Tennessee, as well as the No. 23-ranked doubles team of Brad Cox and Eric Quigley from Kentucky.
The Demon Deacons will host Boston College on Friday and Maryland on Sunday.
