WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest senior Sasha Kulikova and sophomore Martina Pavelec have been named to the 2010 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Tennis Team, as announced by the ACC Thursday.
Kulikova makes her third consecutive appearance on the conference team, while Pavelec earns All-ACC honors in her first year of dual-match play for Wake Forest.
Kulikova is only the sixth player in Wake Forest history to be named to the All-ACC team in three consecutive years. She has had an outstanding season for the Deacons in 2010, posting a singles record of 17-5 in dual matches, including 7-3 in ACC play. The Moscow, Russia native has partnered with freshman Kathryn Talbert in doubles to form the 25th-ranked team in the country. The tandem has accrued a record of 11-6 while playing exclusively at the No. 1 position.
Pavelec has made an immediate impact for the Demon Deacons. Despite not joining the lineup until late March, she has already risen to No. 47 in the national rankings. The Stuttgart, Germany native has compiled a record of 6-5 while mostly at the No. 1 singles position, including wins over No. 22 Sanaz Marand of top-ranked North Carolina and No. 50 Lindsay Hardenbergh of Virginia.
