WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Former Demon Deacon Will Hesmer recorded his second shutout of the season to lead the Columbus Crew to a victory. Here's a look at how other Deacs in the MLS fared during the last week.
Defender Lyle Adams and DC United did not have a game last week. DC United's next game in the MLS is Saturday, May 1, against New York.
Midfielder Corben Bone was available as a substitute but did not play in Chicago's 2-0 win over Houston.
Midfielder Brian Carroll started and played the full 90 minutes in Columbus' 1-0 win over Real Salt Lake. Carroll has started three games this season for the Crew.
Midfielder Sam Cronin entered as a substitute in the 74th minute in Toronto FC's 2-0 win over Seattle. Cronin has played in three games on the season, including two starts.
Midfielder Austin da Luz did not play in New York's 2-1 win over Philadelphia.
Goalkeeper Will Hesmer started in goal and earned his second shutout of the season in Columbus' 1-0 win over Real Salt Lake. Hesmer made four saves en route to the clean sheet. Hesmer has played every minute in goal for the Crew in 2010 and has a 0.67 goals against average.
Midfielder Michael Lahoud started and played the full 90 minutes in Chivas USA's 3-2 win over San Jose. Lahoud assisted on the eventual game-winning goal, playing a long pass to Chukwudi Chijindu for a goal in the 87th minute. Lahoud has played in three games, including two starts, with one assist during the 2010 season.
Defender Ike Opara started and played the full 90 minutes in San Jose's 3-2 loss to Chivas USA. Opara has started four games this season for San Jose and has two goals.
Defender Pat Phelan started and played the entire 90 minutes in New England's 2-1 loss to Colorado. Phelan has played in all five games this season, including four starting appearances, with four shot attempts.
Defender James Riley started and played the full 90 minutes in Seattle's 2-2 tie with FC Dallas. He also started and played 78 minutes in Seattle's 2-0 loss to Toronto FC. Riley has started five games for the Sounders in the 2010 season.
Forward Zack Schilawski started and played 62 minutes in New England's 2-1 loss to Colorado. Schilawski has started all five games this season for the Revolution and has scored three goals.
Midfielder Wells Thompson made his first start of the season and played 74 minutes in Colorado's 2-1 win at New England. Thompson has appeared in five games this season for the Rapids.
