Pairings Announced for NCAA Individual Championships

ATHENS, Ga. -- The draws for the NCAA Women's Singles and Doubles Championships were announced Tuesday with Martina Pavelec in the 64-player singles competition and Sasha Kulikova and Kathryn Talbert in the 32-team doubles field.

The draw pitted all three Demon Deacons against competitors from Ole Miss in opening round.

In singles, Pavelec will begin with the Rebels' Kristi Boxx. Boxx is ranked No. 44 and went 8-7 in dual match play at the No. 1 singles position, while No. 42 Pavelec posted a dual match record of 7-5. The winner of that match will face either Kristy Frilling of Notre Dame or Clemson's Josipa Bek in the second round.

The Wake Forest team of Kulikova and Talbert will face Boxx and partner Karen Nijssen in the first round. Boxx and Nijssen are ranked No. 12 in the nation with a record of 14-5. Kulikova and Talbert are ranked 22nd with an 11-6 record. In round two, the winner of the match will take on either Georgia's Nadja Gilchrist and Chelsey Gullickson or Iowa's Merei Beelen and Sonja Molnar.

All three Demon Deacons will be making their first appearances in the NCAA Individual Championships.

All matches will be held at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga. The singles competition begins on Wednesday with doubles kicking off on Thursday. Competitors will play one round per day, with the finals scheduled for May 31.
