Kulikova and Talbert Eliminated From NCAA Doubles

ATHENS, Ga. - Senior Sasha Kulikova and freshman Kathryn Talbert dropped a tight 7-5, 6-4 match to Kristi Boxx and Karen Nijssen of Ole Miss in the opening round of the NCAA Doubles Championship at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga.
The Rebels only break of the first set came at an opportune time as they won a game on the Deacons' serve while leading 6-5 to take the set 7-5. In the second set, the Deacs twice rallied back from being down a break, but the third time was not the charm, as the Ole Miss team broke the Deacs at 4-5 to close out the match.
It was the second straight day that Demon Deacon players lost to an Ole Miss foe, after Martina Pavelec fell in three sets to Boxx in the NCAA Singles Championship on Wednesday.
Talbert and Kulikova were the Deacons' first representatives in the NCAA Women's Individual Championships since 2007, and they will end the season with a record of 11-7.
