Lopez Named NYCBL Player of the Week

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest rising junior Carlos Lopez has been named the New York Collegiate Baseball League Player of the Week for the week of July 19-25.
An infielder/outfielder from Boynton Beach, Fla., Lopez has appeared in 17 games for Elmira since joining the team following the All-Star Break. Lopez is hitting a team-best .377 with a team-leading two homers and 17 RBIs for the Pioneers. Lopez also leads Elmira with a .642 slugging percentage. Elmira, which has a 27-14 record this summer, recently clinched the NYCBL West Division title, the second division title in team history.
Lopez played in 43 games, including 42 starts, for Wake Forest during his sophomore season. Lopez hit .229 with seven homers and 22 RBIs for the Deacs during 2010. Over his first two collegiate seasons, Lopez is hitting .249 with 19 homers and 59 RBIs in 90 games played, including 85 starts.
