Deacons Continue Play at UVA Fall Invitational

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The Wake Forest women's tennis team wrapped up Day Two of competition at the UVA Fall Invitational with Kathryn Talbert and Anna Mydlowska earning singles victories for the Deacons.
Talbert outlasted NC State's Joelle Kissell 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 in the fifth place draw of the B Singles flight and Mydlowska cruised past Sydney Smith (William & Mary) 6-3, 6-0 in the consolation of the C Singles Flight.
In doubles, the Deacon teams of Martina Pavelec/Kayla Duncan and Kathryn Talbert/Emilee Malvehy defeated opponents from William & Mary in the fifth place draw of the A Doubles match, leaving the two Wake Forest tandem's scheduled to face each other for fifth place tomorrow.
Ryann Cutillo and Anna Mydlowska earned an win over in-state rivals Chloe Smith/Ashley Miller (NC State) in the consolation quarterfinals of the B Doubles flight, before falling 9-8 in the semifinals to Dartmouth's Georgia Smyser and Rachel Decker-Sadowski.
The Deacs will wrap up play in the tournament tomorrow, with all six players continuing singles and doubles action.
