Team Records and Series Notes:
Wake Forest falls to 7-10 (0-2 ACC) while Maryland improves to 11-5 (1-2 ACC). The Deacons start 0-2 in the conference for the first time since 2006-07.
Maryland extends its lead in the overall series to 63-56.
Jeff Bzdelik's career head coaching record falls to 118-115.
Wake Forest had its three-game winning streak in ACC home openers snapped.
The Demon Deacons will return to action Saturday when they head to Blacksburg, Va. to take on Virginia Tech at 8 p.m. The game will be televised on the ACC Network and can also be heard on the Wake Forest Sports Network from IMG College.
Wake Forest Team Notes:
Key Run: After Wake Forest cut the lead to 46-40 in the second half, Maryland exploded for a 17-2 run to go ahead 63-42. The Deacs would get no closer than 18 points the rest of the way.
Key Stat: Wake Forest turned the ball over 18 times leading to 24 Maryland points. The Deacs were only able to score 13 points off of 11 Terrapin turnovers.
The Demon Deacons shot 31.7 percent (19-of-60) from the floor in the contest, their worst shooting mark of the season. Wake Forest went only 3-of-12 (25 percent) from behind the arc.
Wake Forest's 55 points scored were the fewest for a Deacon team since a 68-54 loss at NC State last season.
The Terps used their speed to their advantage, outscoring Wake Forest 20-6 on the fast break. Maryland also dominated the paint, holding a 38-20 advantage inside.
Wake Forest started C.J. Harris, Gary Clark, Travis McKie, Nikita Mescheriakov and Carson Desrosiers' for the third time this season and the first time since the game against Xavier on Dec. 18.
Wake Forest Individual Notes:
Freshman Carson Desrosiers had a one of the best games of his young career, blocking seven shots, one shy of Tim Duncan's Wake Forest freshman record and the most for a Demon Deacon rookie since Duncan swatted seven shots at Virginia on Feb. 26 1994.
Desrosiers also grabbed a career-high nine rebounds, topping his previous high of five boards.
Freshman Travis McKie posted his fifth double-double of the season, scoring 13 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. McKie's five double-doubles lead all ACC freshmen.
Senior Gary Clark tied a career high with four assists. Clark also recorded five points and three rebounds.
Sophomore C.J. Harris scored in double figures, totaling 10 points and four assists.
