Deacons Split Doubles at ITA Carolina Regional

DURHAM, N.C. - Wake Forest's Danny Kreyman and Adam Lee advanced to the doubles Round of 16 on the first day of the ITA Carolina Regional, which is being co-hosted by Duke and North Carolina this weekend.
Kreyman and Lee, seeded seventh in the draw, received a first round bye and then beat Randy Phillips and Chanon Varapongsittikul 8-4 in the second round. The Deacon duo will face No. 9 seeds William Parker and Oystein Steiro in the Round of 16 on Saturday.
Wake Forest's other doubles team of David Hopkins and Amogh Prabhakar was narrowly edged by Furman's Jacob Behal and Andrew Mellow 9-8 (5) in its first match.
The Demon Deacons will kick off singles play in the tournament tomorrow. Conner Sherwood will open against Appalachian State's Alex Markov, Prabhakar will take on UNC Asheville's Matthew Waissen and Lee will battle Winthrop's Rich Meade.
Hopkins and Kreyman both received byes in the first round of singles. Kreyman is one of a group of players that is seeded ninth in the draw of 128.
