Four Deacons Among Final 32 at ITA Carolina Regional

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's tennis team put forth a strong effort in singles as four Demon Deacons won to reach the third round of the ITA Carolina Regional Friday.
Overall, the Deacs went a combined 6-1 on the first day of singles play, leaving Amogh Prabhakar, Adam Lee, Danny Kreyman and David Hopkins standing among the final 32 players left in the draw.
Lee posted some of the Deacons' more impressive results, cruising past Winthrop's Rich Meade 6-3, 6-1 in the first set before upsetting Duke's 11th-seeded Luke Marchese 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (4) in a marathon match. Lee moves on to face NC State's Matt Thomson in the third round.
Kreyman, who is seeded ninth in the tournament, dispatched Chris Cooprider of UNC Wilmington 6-3, 7-5 in his lone match of the day. Kreyman will face Oystein Steiro from North Carolina tomorrow.
Prabhakar eased by UNC Asheville's Matthew Waiseen 6-2, 6-2 in is opening round match, before scoring a solid 6-4, 6-0 victory over Clemson's Zac Rigsby. The junior will take on Ramiro Blanco of USC Upstate in the third round.
Hopkins also defeated a Clemson Tiger Thursday, easily defeating Dom Maden 6-3, 6-1 in his only match. He faces a matchup with Jonas Vliegen in the third round.
Wake Forest's lone remaining doubles team of Danny Kreyman and Adam Lee, who are seeded seventh in the tournament, will return to action tomorrow as well with a Round of 16 tilt against ninth-seeded Steiro and William Parker of UNC.
