
Bercyte, Duncan Win Singles Titles at WF Invite

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Kayla Duncan and Brigita Bercyte captured the championships of their respective singles flights as the Wake Forest women's tennis team wrapped up play at the Wake Forest Invitational Sunday.
Duncan was victorious in the A Singles final, topping No. 93 Alex Bara of VCU 7-5, 6-1. Bercyte prevailed at F Singles, edging Louisville's Gabi Duncan 7-5, 0-6, 6-3.
Zane Zarina also picked up a win on the final day of the tournament, defeating VCU's Olga Terteac 6-3, 6-0. Ryann Cutillo took second place in the B Singles draw, dropping the first set of the championship match to Louisville's Manuela Velasquez before being forced to retire with an injury.
In doubles, Bercyte and Karen Forman topped Missouri's Ashleigh Chiaf and Rachel Stuhlmann 8-5.
The next event on the schedule for the Demon Deacons is the ITA All-America Championship in Pacific Palisades, Calif. Duncan and Kathryn Talbert, ranked No. 7 nationally, will represent Wake Forest in doubles main draw
