CLEMSON, S.C. - Wake Forest junior Andrea Beck had 19 kills and hit .457 for the night, leading the Demon Deacons to a split of the first two games, but Clemson pulled away late for a 3-1 defeat of Wake Forest on Saturday evening at Jervey Gymnasium.

Clemson improved to 16-8 overall and 8-5 in the ACC with the 25-14, 18-25, 25-16, 25-22 defeat of the Deacons, who drop to 5-17 overall and 2-11 in conference play.

Beck continued her stellar play since returning from an injury that sidelined the All-ACC standout early in the season. The Winston-Salem native had just three hitting errors in 35 attempts and also tallied two service aces in the match.

Seniors Kadija Fornah and Carlin Salmon turned in productive nights in the loss, recording 16 and 12 kills respectively. Fornah added eight digs, while Salmon notched two block solos and a block assist.

Freshman libero Dani Thompson led Wake Forest with 21 digs. Senior Cambrey Oehler and sophomore Kylie Hargreaves turned in 13 digs apiece.

Freshman setter Danae Rosendall dished out 48 assists and added six kills with no errors in 16 attempts.

Serenat Yaz led Clemson with a double-double of 16 kills and 12 digs, while Sandra Adeleye added 16 kills for the Tigers. Alexa Rand turned in 10 kills and a match-high eight blocks.

Clemson pulled away early in game one to take control of the match quickly. The Tigers used five straight points to turn an 8-4 advantage into a 13-4 lead. The Deacons could not get closer than six the rest of the way.

Wake Forest fought back to even the match with a 25-18 win in game two. The Deacons registered 20 kills with just two errors in 38 attempts (.474) during the game. With the score knotted at 14 apiece, Wake used a 7-2 run to take control. Beck had three kills during the stretch to fuel the decisive run.

The Tigers used a 6-1 run midway through game three to snap a 10-10 tie and push ahead in the match. Trailing 16-11, the Deacons managed to pull within four (19-15) but that was as close as they would come before falling 25-16.

Clemson had to battle in order to clinch the game four victory. Wake Forest fought back from a four-point deficit to pull within one at 20-19. Holding a slim 23-22 advantage, the Tigers scored the final two points of the game for the 25-22 win.

Clemson swept the 2011 season series from Wake Forest. The Tigers posted a four-game win in Winston-Salem on Sept. 23.

Wake Forest begins a five-match homestand on Tuesday, Nov. 1, when it faces non-conference foe VCU at 7 p.m. The Deacons return to conference action on Friday, Nov. 4, against Virginia Tech at 7 p.m.
