Head Coach Jim Grobe
On the playing style of the team...
"We're a football team that's good enough to beat you, but we're not good enough to get away from you. I think that's the situation that we're going to continue to be in. We've had a bunch of games in the past that we've had a lead of seven points or less at the start of the fourth quarter. We like to keep things interesting for our fans."
On Joey Ehrmann's excellent game...
"I'm never worried about Joey mixing it up, but sometimes I do worry that he might mix it up too much. He's full of life and loves to play, and it was great to see him make some big plays today. He was finally on fire today making those plays."
On the running game of Josh Harris...
"We had the two big runs in the second half, there wasn't anything better than that today. We had a lot of bright spots and that was certainly one of them. They were trying to play coverages against us to take the throw away, and we just kept banging our heads and getting nothing on the ground in the first half. Those runs from Josh in the second half were really nice. We started to be very aggressive running out to the side, which helped our protection a little bit as well. We couldn't protect very well in the first half, but in the second half Tanner actually got some time to throw."
On Chris Givens's injury...
"I saw him take that shot over on the sideline, and then as soon as the trainers gave him the thumbs up he was right back out there on the field. It's good to see guys having fun and playing like that. The game is really important for him right now. He's had some bumps and bruises throughout the first part of the season, but he keeps playing strong in every game."
On the pass rush...
"I thought our pass rush was really good today. I thought there were a lot of times where we got very good pressure but we weren't able to bring him down. For all intents and purposes we probably had three more sacks than we were actually credited with. Manuel did a great job of getting rid of the football. On the last drive we were giving a lot of three-man pressure that gave us a chance to stay back in coverage to make them kill the clock. Our guys worked really hard today."
Florida State Head Coach Jimbo Fisher
On the game...
"Very disappointing, very disappointing performance. The same issues. Five turnovers, you can't win a football game. Thirteen penalties, you can win a football game. We had opportunities. We had the momentum at halftime. We came out and totally missed a protection on the first play. Then we ultimately had a run on the goal line that we tried to cut back and bounce, which is a golden rule inside the five, you stick it. We got a safety and changed the momentum of the game and played from behind the rest of the game. We had opportunities to get back in the game. Had a couple of opportunities, made a couple of poor decisions, made a lot of good plays. The when we made good plays, I think we had four 20 yard games that were negated by holding penalties. Very disappointing."
On your defense being able to get stops...
"We're not able to get off the field at the right time. As I've said we've played well on offense at times, we've played well on defense at times, and we've played well at special teams at times. What we haven't done is play well together. One side is not feeding off the other side. When one side is playing well, the other side is not getting stops. When the other side is getting stops and the offense needs to convert, we're not doing it. We're not playing as a unit."
On the "hunger" of your football team...
"I don't think we weren't hungry. I think we were hungry. I think sometimes that's what we do, we try too hard. I don't think its hunger. It's not effort. We play hard. You look at the film at the effort and the hustle, that's not it. We don't play intelligently. It's three 'Is': Immediacy, Intensity, Intelligence. You have to play intelligent. We have to teach them that way. We're not playing with intelligence in the right situations to be able convert the things we need to convert to win the football games. That's my opinion on it.
