WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Kayla Duncan and Kathryn Talbert will represent the Wake Forest women's tennis team in doubles at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, N.Y., while the rest of the squad will travel to the Eck Classic in South Bend, Ind., as the Demon Deacons wrap up their 2011 fall season.
Duncan and Talbert, who are ranked No. 7 in the country, were one of 20 doubles teams from around the country to earn a bid to the National Indoor Championships, the most selective of the three collegiate national championship events. They will open play on Thursday morning against ACC foes Alex Kelleher and Olga Khmylev of Boston College, with the winner to face No. 19 Kristi Boxx and Abby Guthrie of Ole Miss.
Five other members of the team will compete in the Eck Classic, which is hosted by Notre Dame and will run from Nov. 4-6.
