WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest's Jackie Logue, Katie Stengel and Aubrey Bledsoe have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Women's Soccer Teams. Logue and Stengel were voted to the first team, making them eligible for Academic All-America consideration, and Bledsoe was selected to the second team.
Logue, a junior defender and captain of the Demon Deacons, earned Academic All-District honors for the second year in a row. She has started 61 games in her career, the most of anyone on the team, and has totaled a goal and four assists this season, including an assist on Wake Forest's game-winning goal against top-seed Duke in yesterday's ACC Championships semifinals. Logue is majoring in business and enterprise management.
The 2011 ACC Offensive Player of the Year and First Team All-ACC selection, Stengel adds yet another award to her collection. Only a sophomore, she leads the Demon Deacons this season with 13 goals and 31 points, after last year setting the Wake Forest single-season records with 16 goals and 37 points. Stengel is already one of the most decorated players in program history, having been named ACC Freshman of the Year, TopDrawerSoccer National Rookie of the Year and a 2010 Second Team All-America by the NSCAA.
Bledsoe, also a First Team All-ACC selection this season, has been a rock for the Demon Deacons in goal, only allowing 13 goals all season. This year she has set the Wake Forest single-season record with 11 shutouts and holds a 0.63 goals against average that is on pace to be the lowest in program history. A sophomore from Cincinnati, Ohio, Bledsoe boasts a 3.9 GPA, the highest on the team.
To be eligible for Academic All-District and All-America honors, a student-athlete must have at least sophomore standing and a GPA of at least 3.30. Voting is conducted by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
