Last Time Out
Wake Forest (6-4) is coming off a 68-54 loss at Seton Hall on Saturday, Dec. 10. The Deacons fell behind by double digits in the first half and then could not sustain a rally to cut the deficit to less than six in the second.
Travis McKie led Wake Forest with 17 points and seven rebounds. C.J. Harris scored 12 points to push his double-figure scoring streak to 10 games.
The Deacons struggled from long distance, going just 2-for-16 (12.5 percent) from 3-point range.
Meet the Runnin' Bulldogs
Gardner-Webb (6-6, 1-1 Big South) is coming off consecutive 87-57 wins over Alice Lloyd and South Carolina State. The Runnin' Bulldogs have won three straight after enduring a stretch of five losses in six games.
The Bulldogs are 2-4 in road games this season, which includes a loss at ACC foe Clemson to open the season.
Jason Dawson and Max Landis are GWU's top two scorers, averaging 11.8 and 11.7 points per game respectively. The pair are also tied for second on the team with 26 assists apiece.
Series History
Despite the short two-hour distance between Winston-Salem and Boiling Springs, Wake Forest and Gardner-Webb have met just once previously. The Deacons came away with a 92-60 win over the Bulldogs on Dec. 19, 2006, at the Joel Coliseum.
Next Up...
Wake Forest will host UNC Wilmington on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The Deacons will be looking to avenge last year's 81-69 loss to the Seahawks in Greensboro. It marked UNCW's first-ever defeat of Wake in 13 meetings.
The Deacons will enjoy seven days off for the holiday break before resuming their schedule on Thursday, Dec. 29, against Yale. Wake Forest is 5-1 all-time against Yale with the most recent meeting coming in 2004-05.
