Men's Tennis Hosts No. 35 LSU Sunday

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The No. 37 Wake Forest men's tennis team will be looking for its second win over a top 40 opponent this season when it takes on No. 35 LSU on Sunday at noon at the Indoor Tennis Center.
The Deacons come into the weekend at 2-3 after posting an impressive 6-1 victory over VCU last weekend. Wake took the doubles point with wins by the team of Tripper Carleton/Iain Atkinson at No. 1 and Jonathan Wolff/Danny Kreyman at No. 2.
The singles matches were tight across the board, but the Demon Deacons were able to prevail in five out of the six. At No. 2, Jonathan Wolff scored a ranked win over No. 123 Max Wennakoski 6-2, 6-2. Freshman Adam Lee scored the clinching point in his collegiate debut with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 5.
Wolff has been a bright spot for the Deacs in his senior season, already earning seven wins over ranked opponents this season, which is five more than he had accumulated in his first three years at Wake.
The Demon Deacons have two singles players ranked in this most recent ITA rankings, which were released this week. Wolff is ranked No. 67, and Carleton came in at No. 123.
Wake is 0-2 all-time against LSU will be looking to avenge a tough 4-3 loss to the Tigers last season in Baton Rouge. LSU enters the weekend with a 3-3 record and has yet to defeat an opponent from a BCS conference this season.
The Bayou Bengals boast one of the top doubles teams in the country in No. 14 Sebastian Carlsson and Neal Skupski. The tandem holds a 15-5 record this season, including two wins over top 20 opponents. Skupski is LSU's lone ranked singles player, coming in at No. 88.
After this weekend's match against the Tigers, the Demon Deacons will hit the road to face third-ranked Tennessee, last year's NCAA runner up, on Feb. 27 at 1 p.m. in Knoxville.
