GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wake Forest middle hitters Carlin Salmon and Andrea Beck have both been named to the ACC Volleyball All-Academic Team as announced by the conference office on Friday.
Beck is now a two-time ACC All-Academic Team selection, while this marks the first time that Salmon has garnered the award.
To be eligible for All-ACC Academic Team consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
The duo started every game opposite each other in the middle and anchored the team both offensively and defensively. Salmon and Beck combined for 566 kills and a .313 hitting percentage on offense and 216 of the team's 238 blocks on the season.
Beck, a sophomore from Winston-Salem who also was named All-ACC and First Team Academic All-District, ended the year second on the team in both kills (312) and total blocks (100). Early in the ACC season, she was named ACC Player of the Week for outstanding performances at Clemson and Georgia Tech. Beck led the Deacons to three-set road victories over both teams in the process.
A native of Wildwood, Mo., Salmon was a force at the net with a team-best 116 total blocks, including 15 solo blocks. She was also one of the most consistent offensive players with 254 kills and a .304 hitting percentage.
