WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest's Martina Pavelec was named to the All-ACC Academic Women's Tennis Team for the second year in a row, as announced today by the conference office.
Pavelec, who graduated from Wake Forest in May with a degree in economics and communication, is one of the 15 members of the 27-player 2011 team to earn All-ACC Academic honors multiple times.
To be eligible for consideration for the team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.0 cumulative average during her academic career.
A native of Stuttgart, Germany, Pavelec also earned All-ACC honors on the court in 2011, leading the Demon Deacons at the No. 1 singles position and rising as high as No. 24 in the national singles rankings.
Players from all 12 ACC institutions were represented on the conference academic team. Miami's Bianca Eichkorn, who was earlier named ACC Player of the Year, took home ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors.
