Wake Forest graduated senior Steven Brooks has signed a free-agent contract with the Kansas City Royals. Brooks will be returning to North Carolina where he will be playing for the Burlington Royals.

Brooks started all 56 games for the Demon Deacons during his senior season and led the team with 30 stolen bases on 33 attempts. He also hit .241 with four home runs, 13 doubles and 27 RBIs.

During his four years at Wake Forest, Brooks recorded a .283 average with 17 home runs and 113 RBIs while playing in 193 games. His 79 career stolen bases rank second all-time in the Demon Deacon record books.

The Burlington Royals are a rookie-level team for the Kansas City Royals. Burlington plays in the Appalachian League and has been affiliated with the Kansas City Royals since September 1, 2006.
