WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Former Wake Forest standout Cory Parr will open play in the doubles draw of the ATP's Winston-Salem Open on Tuesday when he and his partner Treat Huey take on Julian Knowle and Oliver Marach of Austria.
The match is scheduled as the final match on Court 3, meaning it will likely be a part of Tuesday's night session.
Parr and Huey, a former player at Virginia, received a wildcard into the tournament's doubles draw. They will face two seasoned doubles players in Marach, who is ranked No. 11 in the world and Knowle, who is ranked No. 79.
Parr was a 2008 and 2009 Doubles All-American and 2009 Singles All-American. With 108 victories, he holds the record for most wins of all doubles player in the history of Wake Forest tennis. Parr made it to the quarterfinals of the 2008 and 2009 NCAA Doubles Championships and was All-ACC in 2007, 2008 and 2009. He also won the 2008 ITA National Indoor Doubles Championship with Steven Forman, the first-ever individual national championship for the Wake Forest men's tennis program.
Huey is a graduate of the University of Virginia, where he was All-ACC in 2006 and 2007. During the fall of his senior year, he became Virginia's all-time career doubles winner with 106 victories. Huey concluded the fall of his senior year ranked No. 1 in doubles and No. 1 in singles in the Mideast Region. He recently teamed with Winston-Salem Open singles player and former teammate Somdev Devvarman at the Los Angeles Farmer's Class (an ATP event as part of the US Open Series) and reached the finals before losing to Mark Knowles and Xavier Malisse. Huey is currently ranked No. 71 worldwide among doubles players.
