Mac Williamson Named Summer Collegiate All-American

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest left fielder Mac Williamson has been named a Perfect Game Summer Collegiate All-American for his performance with the Harrisonburg Turks of the Valley Baseball League.

The Wake Forest, N.C., native has an outstanding summer at the plate and earned First Team Summer All-American honors as an outfielder.

Williamson, along with fellow Deacons Niko Spezial and Justin Van Grouw, helped guide the Turks to a league-best 34-14 record in the regular season, starting 34 games. He led the team with 10 home runs and a .381 batting average, while he was second on the team with 38 RBIs and third on the team with 11 doubles.

For the summer, Williamson went 48-for-126 at the plate.

In the 2011 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, Williamson was selected in the 46th Round by the Boston Red Sox after also leading his Wake Forest squad with a .273 batting average and 12 home runs in 56 games.

Williamson started all 56 games in left field for Wake Forest in 2011 and will be entering his redshirt-junior season in 2012.
