Wake Forest Head Coach Jeff Bzdelik

Opening Statement...

"So we went from the second half of the Maryland game, scoring 40 points, shooting 56 percent from the floor, to this. Why did that happen? Well, first of all give NC State some credit, they physically hit us every time we went to move, combined with the fact that we had absolutely no offensive intensity. [It was the] same offensive sets that went from what I just described, to this. But we weren't cutting hard to get open, we weren't screening or reading screens. We were just kind of walking through our offense and that's not going to work."

"And then we dribbled too much and dribbled the ball out of bounds. We were not cutting and screening and moving the ball, so we started getting married to jacking up three's. When you're doing that on offense and you're struggling to score, it slowly just wears on you defensively. For as bad as we were there, if we had - midway through the first half - if we had just executed and knocked down some shots and finished around the rim we would've been right there. But it just kept getting away from us and away from us and away from us."

On the lack of production from leading scorers C.J. Harris and Travis McKie...

"I think State did a good job, but then we weren't doing a good job of getting them open by executing what we were supposed to do and moving the ball. They're leaving others open to shoot the ball, and they've got to make shots too. They've got to contribute, they're on scholarship, so it's a total team deal here."

On how concerned he is after starting off strong and falling flat today...

"We're all staying here and they're watching the film with me after I'm done with all of this. We've got a great group of guys, I don't know why we did what we did offensively today... Am I worried about it? No, I'm not worried about it. This is a team that wanted to do well and I think they just got frustrated to the point where they just got so frustrated it just got the best of them - because it's a young team - and they didn't really know how to handle it."

NC State Head Coach Mark Gottfried

Opening statement...

"Let me start off by saying that this game was a good team win for us. We did not play the way that we felt like we could play in our last game, so I think our guys responded today. We have to play to our potential regardless of who we are playing; that was the takeaway from today, I think we played the game the way that I would like our team to play. It was a good win for us."

On rebounding from the Georgia Tech loss...

"We addressed it and talked about it a lot. I'm not a guy who makes the players watch tons of tape, but we addressed everything the next day and we had a lot of things to talk about. Offensively and defensively we weren't very good. We know we can't be loose with the ball and have poor execution. That was more of the emphasis for us coming out of that game."

On C.J. Leslie...

"Benching C.J. at the start of the game was a decision that I made from a discipline standpoint. Calvin has been very good this year and I expect him to be fine. He did roll his ankle there in the second half and we'll give him some treatment for that in the next day or so, hopefully that's not going to be an issue. I thought DeShawn Painter stepped up and was really good; as a player, you get opportunities sometimes and DeShawn did very well, I was very proud of him for that."

On the strong defensive effort...

"I think our staff normally does a good job with their scouting, and I think today we really had them pegged. Our guys really executed defensively on how we wanted to defend certain things. For us, the key was that their perimeter guys were averaging 46 points per game, and when you add up their totals today I think they scored 15. That was an emphasis. We've been weak at times with containing really good scorers on the perimeter. Today we did a much better job with that."
