Deacons Start Strong at USTA/ITA Carolina Regional

CARY, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's tennis team put on a strong showing on the opening day of the ITA Carolina Regional Championships as the Demon Deacons' top four players all advanced to the third round of singles at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C.
Reaching the third round were David Hopkins, Danny Kreyman, Adam Lee and Amogh Prabhakar.
Lee took down Alex Calott of Charlotte in three sets 6-4, 4-6, 6-0 in his first-round match before earning a ranked victory in the second round over No. 86 Artemiy Nikitin of South Carolina State. Prabhakar defeated Garik Yedigarian (Coastal) 6-2, 6-4 in the first round before beating UNC Asheville's Adrien Lenreard 6-4, 6-4 in the second round.
Hopkins and Kreyman are seeded and received first-round byes by virtue of their national rankings.
Kreyman, ranked No. 94, outlasted NC State's Dave Thomson 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 while Hopkins, ranked No. 102, topped Brian Allanic from College of Charleston.
Freshmen Jon Ho and Anthony Delcore both won their first round matches before falling in the second round.
Two more rounds of singles are scheduled for tomorrow. Kreyman will face Appalachian State's Zack Bost, Lee will play NC State's Rafael Paez, Prabhakar will match up against Duke freshman Michael Redlicki and Hopkins will take on Sam Williams from UNCW.
Doubles will also start play tomorrow, with Wake Forest entering four teams, including the third-seeded duo of Hopkins and Prabhakar
