WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's tennis team will host its first home event of the season as 16 teams compete in the Wake Forest Invitational, which will be held at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex from Friday to Sunday.
Brigita Bercyte, Karen Forman, Kasey Gardiner, Andrea Retolaza Andrade, Kathryn Talbert and Xue Zhang will represent the Demon Deacons in the event. Talbert will only compete in doubles while the other five players will play both singles and doubles.
Joining Wake Forest in the tournament will be players from Appalachian State, Campbell, Charlotte, College of Charleston, Davidson, Elon, ETSU, Louisville, Navy, Radford, Richmond, Stetson, UNCG, West Virginia and Winthrop.
The event is Wake Forest's second tournament of the fall after the Deacons took part in the Virginia Invitational in September. Retolaza Andrade was the highlight of that tournament for Wake Forest as she won the consolation draw of her flight, beating a ranked player from Virginia in the finals. Talbert and Gardiner teamed up to reach the finals of the top doubles flight before falling to a ranked Cavalier team.
