WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's tennis team will look to extend its home winning streak Friday in matches against William & Mary and Norfolk State. The Demon Deacons will take on the Tribe at 2 p.m. and the Spartans at 6 p.m. at the Indoor Tennis Center.
Wake Forest currently holds a 6-4 record, and broke a four-match losing streak with two wins against Elon and Winthrop on Feb 11. The Deacons are currently ranked No. 42 in the ITA rankings.
The Deacs will look to Danny Kreyman to continue delivering strong performances after his success this season while rotating between the No. 1 and No. 2 singles spots. Ranked No. 115 nationally, the junior from Long Beach, N.Y. has posted a 20-7 singles mark this season.
With a four-match winning streak in singles, junior Amogh Prabhakar has provided consistency at the No. 3 spot. Prabhakar is coming off of two weekend wins against Elon's Eric Turner and Winthrop's Yuta Hirokawa.
William & Mary (6-7) has dropped its three most recent road matches, losing 7-0 to both Georgia Tech and N.C. State, and well as falling 6-1 to Georgia this past weekend. Last season, Wake Forest swept past William & Mary 6-1 with notable performances coming in exciting three-set wins in singles by Kreyman and David Hopkins.
Norfolk State and Wake Forest will face off for the first time in men's tennis. The Spartans (1-5) swept Hampton 7-0 in their most recent match for their first win of the season. Playing at No.1 spot in singles, senior Ben Marks is 3-3.
Following this Friday's matches, the Demon Deacons will hit the road for the first time since January for a match against No. 35 Louisville on Feb 25.
